Split Jerk: Kick The Heel Under The Knee

When we split for the jerk, we tend to naturally lead with the front knee. This means the foot follows behind and is more likely to stay behind it, meaning a weaker and less stable split position with the knee in front of the ankle.

Instead, imagine kicking the heel forward under the knee as you split.

This ensures the foot isn’t just dragged behind the knee, moves more quickly, and helps establish the vertical shin position we’re looking for.

Use the drop to split and tall jerk to practice this motion with less distraction.
