Band Side Shuffle

The band side shuffle is a simple preparatory exercise for lateral glute strength and hip stability.

With a mini band around the legs just below the knees, bend the knees and hips into athletic position. Step to the side as far as the band will allow, and then bring the trailing leg to meet the lead leg. Repeat all reps in one direction before switching, or alternate directions with each rep.

Purpose
The band side shuffle is a simple preparatory exercise for lateral glute strength and hip stability.

Programming
This is a good preparatory exercise for use in a warm-up. 1-3 sets of 10-20 reps to each side are appropriate.

Variations
More or less knee and hip bend can be used to emphasize slightly different aspects of the hip.
